Greg’s Pizza In Johnson City Is the Best Ever!

Pizza is one of America’s favorite foods. I mean, who doesn’t love a good pizza now and again? But if you have never tried a Greg’s Pizza, you have never had a REAL pizza!

Why Greg’s Pizza Makes the Best Pizza in the World

I have eaten at so many pizza places over the years. We have the big pizza places such as Little Caesars, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Fox’s Pizza, Dominoes, and more. I have not only tried most major pizza companies, but I have also tried countless other smaller “mom and pop” pizza places both locally and abroad when vacationing. They are all good in their own way.

However, none of the other places even come close to competing with a little place called Greg’s Pizza.  This place makes the best pizzas I have ever eaten in my life! They also make a great spaghetti meal as well.

First, they create a lovely round pie (small or large). The guys can usually be seen tossing it in the window. The crust is always fairly thin and soft, and the edge does not contain a large amount of crust either. So you don’t get an overly breaded taste like with Papa Johns.

Next, they add just the right amount of sauce to make it ooze out when you take a bite. I always ask for some extra sauce, because it is the best pizza sauce ever.

Then they add the toppings you order (I usually go for pepperoni only), and then they literally smother it with the most delicious and rich tasting mozzarella cheese. Then, they finish it by cutting it into rectangular pieces (which is rare for pizza because most are cut in triangular shapes). Then they stuff it in a brown box, and on your way you go!

I will say a couple of things. First, they are a smidgen on the greasy side, but hey, live a little! It takes great. Also, they aren’t as cheap as other pizza joints, but don’t you get what you pay for? They aren’t overpriced in the least either.

Just call and in about 15-20 minutes you are on your way to the best pizza that has ever flirted with your taste buds. And the guys inside are always friendly as well, so you get great service to boot.

What Does a Greg’s Pizza Look Like?

Just in case your imagination isn’t very good, I will show you a picture of what a delicious Greg’s Pizza looks like below. My wife and I devoured this little beauty today!

Warning: Looking at the picture below may cause severe mouth watering and even severe stomach growling.

Where Can I Buy a Greg’s Pizza, and How Much Do They Cost?

I bought the above pizza for under $13 tax included, so it is very reasonable. The large is a couple of dollars more (around $15 tax included) Sure, you can get a Little Caesar’s pizza for around $5 at this time, but you will WANT to pay the extra money. It is worth every penny and then some! Keep in mind, you get what you pay for! I would probably pay upwards of $20 if I had to (I know, sad isn’t it).

This is NOT a nationwide company, and according to the box there are only a handful of locations. It gives these locations:

  • Johnson City, Tennessee
  • Elizabethton, Tennessee
  • Elkhart, Indiana (3)
Also, while it may sound as if I work for this company or something, I assure you I do not. However, I would love to own stock in it if they had some, because I see potential in this one! Yum Yum. It is so addictive.

How to Make Sugar Coated Peanuts

Recipe for Sugar Coated Peanuts

Are you are looking for a quick snack that tastes great, is inexpensive to make, and great for parties, holidays, reunions, dances, etc.? If so then you are in luck. This page has a quick & easy recipe on how to make sugar peanuts.

Sugar peanuts can be a delicious snack that the whole family, friends, & more can enjoy. It is very inexpensive to make, only takes a few minutes, and yet you will find it hard to stop eating these tasty little nuts!

You can use any kind of nuts, but plain peanuts usually work best. If you can, try to get the ones without the red paper shell covering. If you can’t, that is fine. You can use this recipe even if they have the red paper-like shell. If you buy a bag of peanuts with the hard outer-shell, you will need to remove the shell & remove the raw peanuts inside. It is easiest to buy a bag of raw peanuts without the hard outer-shell so you don’t have to waste time cracking them.

Ingredients for Sugar Coated Peanuts:

  • 1 Cup of White Granulated Sugar

  • 2 Cups of Raw Peanuts

  • 1/2 Cup of Water

How to Make Sugar Coated Peanuts:

To make sugar coated peanuts, you simply follow these cooking instructions. First get all of your ingredients handy. Get a small to medium sized pot or sauce pan to cook the nuts in. Also, you will bake the peanuts in the over after you cook them on the stove. So go ahead & preheat your oven to about 350 degrees.

Place the pot or sauce pan on the stove & turn on the heat to about the medium-hot range (hot enough to make it boil). Add the 1 cup of sugar and the 1/2 cup of water.

Stir the water & sugar until it just starts to boil. The sugar should mix in with the water nicely as you stir. Keep stirring until the sugar has dissolved in the water. As soon as it has dissolved, go ahead and add the full 2 cups of raw peanuts to the pot.

The secret is to keep stirring the peanuts in the water/sugar. It will seem watery for a few minutes, but keep stirring. After about 5-15 minutes of stirring, suddenly the sugar water will become thick. Keep stirring until it has thickened up & stuck to the peanuts. It should be thick like honey, and there should be no watery mixture left. It will stick to the peanuts.

This process above takes a few minutes, so just keep stirring your peanuts until they become thick.  After they are thick, just remove the pan from the stove eye, and turn off the heat.

Then spread the peanuts on a baking pan/sheet, and take a spoon or knife & spread them out evenly. Then immediately stick them into the oven. Again, the temperature should be about 350 degrees.

Bake them in the oven for 20-25 minutes. I usually stir them every 7-10 minutes so they don’t stick to the pan & so the peanuts can dry out really well.

After they are done, remove them from the oven & allow them to cool for at least 5 minutes. Then, the are ready to go into a snack bowl for consumption! They are really a great snack, & costs less than $1-2 to make.
